The US FDIC was one of the financial strongest units of US two years back, but the financial crisis in the last two years has already eaten the huge reserves of FDIC. The FDIC has been forced to take over over 100 US banks in the last 18 months which has cost it billions of dollars.
The US FDIC is now without cash , and hence it is planning to ask all the major US banks to pay the next three years fees in advance. The US FDIC is expecting at least another 50 to 100 bank crashes in US in the next 12 months, and hence the preparatory measure.
