Becoming rich is not easy. If it was, then we would have everyone calling himself as ‘rich’. That is not happening and is indeed with good reason. To become rich, to put it very simply, you need four ingredients : one, you need some capital. It is difficult to become rich without any capital at all. Two, you need some business savvy. You cannot become rich without this. Three, you need some idea to start with in the first place. It is very difficult to become rich without any ideas. Four, you need to be ready to rid the tide as it rolls. Of course, there could be exceptions for all these but those exceptions only prove the rule.
Take the case of the nouveau riche families. Every single family, however rich and how many ever generations have crossed, must have started as nouveau riche at some point in time. All those nouveau riche show us is that the person with a passion to look at things in a big way, who have the ‘vision’, who can see what is just not there currently but who go on to create them are the ones who have successfully created wealth.
Take the case of Dhirubhai Ambani. The person who was a petrol bunk attendant at Shell. He dreamt big. He put in some seed capital. He had the right ideas. But, above all, he had the passion. He created history. Now, the Ambani group in India is one of the most formidable business empires.
