Men find it difficult to recognize faces when compared to women. Recognizing people faces is really difficult that is even worse in men when seen in women. These are the research done by the scientists and they say face recognition is present in the genes. The study took as many as 120 volunteers and came out with a surprise finding. The volunteers were shown some faces and asked to recognize some unfamiliar faces. As many as 10 to 20 pictures were shown to the volunteers for 20 seconds continuously and most of the familiar was unfamiliar faces.
Then the volunteers’ were asked to recognize these anonymous faces of different people by memorizing them. These digital photos were removed and shuffled by removing the hair, ear, blemishes. The main reason behind the alteration of these faces was that the volunteers use only the main features to recognize the faces. These altered faces were mixed with some 30 photos and the volunteers were asked to recognize. The women were found to recognize the hidden altered faces in the photos when compared to men. The research was done at the University of Toronto and the lead psychologist was Jennifer Steeves.
The research even found that the gay men and left handed persons were able to recognize faces better. The efficiency of recognizing new faces was good in women when compared to men. Usually when women see the faces they analyze the faces they see hence they are capable of recognizing. The emotion and personal traits are studied when a women and a gay person sees a face of person hence they remember. The brains of women and gay are known to function in both the hemispheres when they see a face hence they are able to recognize.
