Wal Mart has annouced its steps to acquire Vudu. Vudu is a service provider who provides digital movies to internet ready devices.

After this acquisition, Wal Mart will be a significant player in the digital market.  Wal- Mart is planning to give videos on demand services through internet.  It would allow users to rent movies or buy movies. Wal-Mart can become a dominant player in this segment, the way they dominated the retail industy.

By this project, Wal-Mart returns into the segment which they discontinued three years back.

But the said acquisition did not have any impact in the stock market.
