This happened nearly a decade back.
In my second employment with one of the top five Pharmaceutical majors in India, my boss asked to sit with me in a review meeting, where he was planning to sack an old employee. He was highlighting the great history of the employee first, then started saying how he was not coping up with the changing needs of the organization in the last two years with facts and figures.
Then it became easy for him to convince the employee to give the resignation letter immediately, and then the eventual thing happened. After greeting out the employee, my boss told me that in life, you need to keep marching forward and there is nothing called comfortably settling at the current level. When you stagnate at a particular level, everybody else would be marching past you without even bothering about your great track record.
The problem is only with you, in not adapting to the changing needs of the environment. So that became the key learning for me, and I have till now successfully used that learning by continuously improving my skill sets and adapting to the changing needs on a regular basis.
By keeping your mind, eyes and ears open, you are ready to grab every successful opportunity that comes near you and then success becomes a habit for you. So if you are ready for enjoying the success continuously, just turn positive and self-motivating.
