Pregnancy care should start from the time your pregnancy is confirmed, that would be roughly from 4th week. Pregnancy care would primarily mean to take care of the nutritional needs of your body. You should immediately stop dieting and take wholesome food that can give all required vitamins, iron and minerals and calcium. Though your food will have the nutrition, it is must to take folic acid supplements for the first two months and then take calcium and iron supplements from the third month till delivery and also continue after delivery till the time you are exclusively breast feeding your baby. Check your weight gain regularly. Do small exercises. Walking is the best exercise. Do not lift weights during the entire course of pregnancy. From your second trimester, note not to wear tight clothes. There are maternity clothes available that can come of help to you during those days. Do not miss your regular check up with your gynecologist. Also it would be advisable for your partner to join you for taking up pregnancy classes. Your partner should have good knowledge of how to handle baby, soothe a baby and should be able to assist you post delivery in baby care. You should take adequate rest during the advanced stages of pregnancy
