The US law makers are upset at reports of faulty control systems in many of the Toyota cars. Over the last few months, there have been over 120 cases of quality issues with respect to the ignition, acceleration and braking systems in Toyota cars.
The Japanese car major, which happens to be the leader in the US market also since 2009, has been working over night in calling back millions of defective cars. It has already replaced the parts in over 50% of the cars and rest of the problem is expected to be sorted out over the next few weeks.
It also stopped further production of select brands of cars to bring in more stringent control processes. Now the US law makers have sought more details from the company on the defect issues, and the company is likely to face tough questions from the US law makers.
